A 77 year old pensioner killed himself in front of the Greek Parliament today 04/03/2012.
He left a note saying "I am a pensioner. I cannot live under these conditions. I cannot look for food in the garbage bins. This is why I decided to end my life".
The number of suicides has gone up dramatically over the past two years in Greece as a result of the continuing austerity measures undertaken by two consecutive governments, under the guidance and pressure of the IMF and the EU.
